2005 CHALLENGE

First Baptist Church, as we did in the year 2000, has once again met the challenge of building a house with Habitat for Humanity.  In the Psalms God asks the faithful, “What house will you build for me?” In the year 2005 God is asking us that very same question. We have answered affirmatively, and will build a house with Habitat for Humanity. We have the right people in the right places at the right time to do the right ministry in God’s name.

I urge you to give prayerful consideration to God’s leading to determine the roles you will play in helping accomplish this significant ministry in the year 2005.

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. (Proverbs 24: 3-4)

Thomas G. Bayes, Jr.

The Habitat for Humanity Committee is an ad hoc committee of the Mission Board.  They will be working behind the scenes, laying the groundwork to make this homebuilding project possible. During construction, they will be calling on you to help.

Yashica is a single mother with two daughters. Yashica is a teacher’s assistant and is currently in her fourth year with the Special Education Association of Peoria County. She is very friendly and outgoing and has been an excellent worker, putting in her initial 20 hours of hard work and sweat. She has a large, close-knit family nearby that is very supportive and is excited about her desire to become a homeowner.  Her enthusiasm is contagious and delightful.

Thanks To The Habitat Volunteers

Now that we have had the privilege of handing over the keys for the Habitat House to Yashika Brown and her daughters, I  need to say a big “Thank You” to all who worked to make their house a reality.

When I called you; you responded. You put up walls, trusses, wall and roof sheeting, put on shingles, dry-wall, installed plugs  and switches, painted, installed light fixtures and everything else that we saw in the finished product on Sunday. Without you, it wouldn’t have happened.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
