Getting started on Renovation 2002. First
Baptist underwent a major interior renovation in 2002. Some of this work
will continue for some time.

After the Bible School party, we were entertained by REVELACION DE MARANATA, a Christian band from La Romana, Dominican Republic!

A crowd of church members, neighbors, international students, folks from Friendship House, VBS-ers, and other guests enjoyed two hours of fantastic music and dancing, Caribbean style. We were pleased to welcome Pastor Elden Perez and missionary Kristy Engel, who told the audience about the work in La Romana. A love offering of over $500 was received, in addition to proceeds from CD and t-shirts sales. The FBC youth group raised $116 in popcorn and lemonade sales to the crowd. On Saturday morning, our men hosted the musicians for breakfast, and some of our members joined them in their morning devotions. Later in the day, they met with Gospel Experience church for a picnic lunch and then were to be part of Latin Fest at Glen Oak Park before heading to Mattoon for their next appearance.
